#ReimagineCatwalks

WORK — PROJECT

Catwalks are pedestrian shortcuts that cut neighbourhood walking times in half. They take locals to school, the bus stop, parks, pubs, and stores - they have the potential to get people walking and connected with their communities - but design issues and upkeep get in the way.

In 2016, the community of Marlborough told us how essential catwalks were. This led us to launch the Reimagine Catwalks Project, publish the Reimagine Catwalks Playbook and Policy Companion, and collaborate with the Federation of Calgary Communities and City of Calgary on Activate YYC 2.0 - Shortcuts, Catwalks, Mazes and Mews. Since then, we’ve worked with 16 communities on 30 projects - bringing together professional designers and locals of all ages to help catwalks reach their potential.
